We were featured in the tasting panel of the Sommelier Journal's April issue. It said: The relatively unknown Drytown Cellars took top honors in the [blind] tasting. Proprietors Allen and Suzanne Kreutzer bought 40 acres of vineyard land in Drytown, CA, just off Highway 49 in Amador County, in 2000, and they now make a range of wines from Barbera to Viognier.

"Kruth: This is what I would expect from an Amador-Sierra Foothills Zinfandel. It had that very pretty cranberry, red-fruit character, but it got into some of the blue fruit, and it was floral. There was a little tannin and astringency, but it was balanced by the silkiness on the palate. I would put this on my wine list."

We were also noted in the Lonely Planet's California Trips #45. "Drytown Cellars, which sits perched above a dusty driveway (not anymore!) It goes on to say how Allen is on had to greet visitors with big pours, slaps on the back and a cluttered trophy shelf. With his mess of blonde hair and gregarious, unpretentious hospitality, Kreutzer typifies Amador's spirit just as much as his wines - daring takes on zinfandel and syrah, pinot and barbera and an excellent coffee-flavored dessert wine.
